World Record Deadlift

There’s a video circulating among my clients of Hafthor Bjornsson (‘The Mountain’ from The Game of Thrones) performing a world record deadlift at the Arnold Strongman Competition recently.

1,041lb!!

That’s more than 472kg (or 74 stone for the imperials).

That’s pretty darn heavy!!

Ruth, who first shared it, has just deadlifted 70kg herself. Not quite Strongman stuff just yet, but considering she started on 20kg 11 weeks ago, I’d say it’s pretty darn impressive!

And she does have a lot in common with Hafthor.

Like that feeling of accomplishment you feel when your body does something you never thought it would be capable of.

That rush of pride when you push yourself that little bit harder and complete your last rep.

The satisfaction of knowing you’re using your body to its full potential.

My trainees feel like that on average three times a week.

Which is pretty darn awesome.
