The Secret to Having More Time

The Secret to Having More Time

Not having enough time is the number one reason people give when they quit the gym.

‘I just don’t have enough time with work and family and socialising and holidays and housework and kids and uni and and and.’

Saying you want to get fit but don’t have the time is like saying you want to keep all your teeth but don’t have time to brush them.

Of course you have time!

There is always enough time to do the things you want to do, it’s just a matter of priorities.

First we fill up our time with the things we HAVE to do; eat, sleep, stay clean, work, study, commute, etc. etc.

Next we fill up our time with the things we WANT to do; watch movies, see friends, read books, play games, go out for dinner etc. etc.

Then our time is filled up with distractions; social media, phone calls, emails, adverts, TV, these things actually take up loads of our time, sometimes without our permission and most of the time without even realising it.

And finally, with the time we have left we do… nothing. Because we’ve ‘earned it’.

But what if taking care of yourself, looking good, feeling great and increasing your longevity became one of the things you HAVE to do? You would fit it in right up there next to brushing your teeth.

And what if having more energy, feeling more confident, feeling sexy, and loving your body became one of the things you WANT to do? You would find a way to make it happen just like you find the time to watch your favourite TV show.

The problem is not that you don’t have enough time.

The problem is that you haven’t decided it’s important enough yet.

Wanting things to change is not enough. You have to find the time to make it happen.

And the time is always there, it’s just a matter of priorities.

So today’s take home points are:

1. Stop putting things off until you ‘have the time’. Decide what’s important and make it happen.
2. Time is your most valuable (and irreplaceable) commodity, so spend it wisely.
