Money for Old Rope?

I just took my son for his first ever swimming lesson.

He’s only 7.5 months old but I want him to be confident in water and it’s something fun we can do together.

It was fun, but I can’t help feeling that I’m spending money on old rope!

We basically spent half an hour singing nursery rhymes while dunking their heads under the water.

I thought about cancelling and taking him myself. But I won’t, partly because we had to pay for two months up front! But also because the likelihood is, if I’m not paying for the lessons we won’t make it every week.

Someone is laughing all the way to the bank!

It’s a bit like when people join the gym but don’t have a programme to follow.

Their membership fee keeps motivating them to go.

They go every week, do some classes, a bit of cardio, maybe even some machines, it feels good because they’re doing something, but they never really achieve anything.

It’s OK for a while but eventually the lack of results is demotivating and they give up.

Exercising with no programme and expecting results is like singing Old MacDonald and expecting my son to swim!

It’s fun for a while but sooner or later we’re going to have to invest in something that really works.
