Slay the saboteurs!

Why is it that whenever we want to make a positive change there is always someone trying to derail us?
People who want to quit smoking find smokers continue to offer them cigarettes.
People who want to stop drinking have drinkers trying to convince them to ‘just have one’.
And when you start a new diet? There is always that one ‘friend’ putting cake in front of you.
Whenever someone tries to convince me something is a good idea I always ask myself ‘is this person living the kind of life I want to live?’.
The sad truth is that most people will go their entire lives not making healthy choices (and dealing with the consequences). What you need to ask yourself is do you want to be like those people?
Because those people certainly want you to be like them.
Otherwise why would they insist on trying to sabotage your efforts?
Unfortunately we live in a society where being healthy is seen as the boring option and that’s why we’re slap bang in the middle of an obesity epidemic and as a nation we’re all sick and tired.
But (as the saying goes) what if you got sick and tired of being sick and tired?
What if you decided that feeling vibrant and full of energy every day, feeling strong and sexy in the mirror, living a long full life was something to aspire to rather than ridicule, what then?
Let me tell you, in the words of Ghandi himself:
First they ignore you…
Your friends and colleagues will blow it off because you’ve done this before and it didn’t last then so why should it now?
Then they laugh at you…
Rolling their eyes they will say things like ‘she thinks she’s going to be the next [insert idol here] haha’.
Then they fight you…
Why don’t you just have one slice?
It won’t hurt.
Don’t be boring.
It’s my birthday!
Pleeeaaase!
Then you win…
Finally, they see the new you; slim, sexy, full of energy, confident and happier than you’ve ever been.
And that’s when they ask you – how did you do it??
